the fridgid weather seems
ridiculous

the palm trees outside my apartment sway
I walk to Dia Lanes
to meet Alex and Jenna

we stand inside the smokey upstairs bowling alley
downstairs men play pachinko and slots and video games
we are waiting for Melissa

"You guys!" she exclaims upon arrival
"Did you know it's snowing outside?"

Pounce

quantum theory expounds on the physics
of soul and the (existence/nonexistence) of space/time/mind
we're all intelligent sparks of energy firing
re-wiring ourselves to the echo of memory
the plenary system isn't working! rewire, reconfigure
smash it it and turn, creaking the planks of your unused wisdom
you don't know what you don't know, but it's all already there
if you are willing to pounce on the magnitude of fireworks,
access the massive electric potential of everything within and without

densely populated underground
overground highways of my
wretched rigmarole

shattered and patched and rebuilt
so fragmented and so
so sorry
so sick of (so-so)

watch the autumn leak in like sub-zero honey
all around the reverberations of comings and goings
but here in this sweet cold dark spot
the stillness moves up beside me so slowly
I feel it without seeing it
I know it without knowledge
